As a Director, UX, you will be responsible for the user experience strategy and design execution for our Sourcing platform. The Sourcing Platform seeks to be the best in class paradigm for not only Walmart brands to “source” products from suppliers, but also 3rd party merchants looking to drive their costs of goods lower and product quality higher. In the toolset you’ll be responsible for, there are three main personas – the merchants (think the operators of our stores worldwide), the sourcers (the Walmart Associates who are manage the contracting and legal terms with suppliers), and finally the suppliers themselves (representatives of factories anywhere in the world).

You will partner within UX with the User Research Lead, the Content Strategy (and Localization) Team, and our Accessibility Practice and externally with cross-functional partners – Product Management, Product Engineering and other business leaders.

 

 

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of user experience professionals to define, validate and deliver UX documentation to PM and Eng in a timely fashion.
  • Chart out a path for the team to grow and prosper inclusive of the location strategy for talent, career training and individual enrichment culminating in a spirit of “it’s worthwhile to invest my career in Walmart and with the Sourcing Team.”
  • Mentor and coach the design staff ensuring a sense of connection, support and accountability.
  • Partner with UX Research to define learning objectives for research investments.
  • Facilitate in-person and or virtual design thinking workshops with cross-functional teams in the ideation and prioritization processes.
  • Raise the bar on design thinking activities for the team to change expectations for what it means to partner with us.

 

 

Required Qualities

  • High energy and have a bias for action.
  • Passionate about practicing data-driven design (both qualitative and quantitative).
  • Enthusiastic and excited about enterprise applications and design problems.
  • Assertive and understand that UX Leaders need to be visible, vocal and active.
  • Enjoy storytelling as a core part of your UX approach and practice.

 

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years leading UX Teams of 10 or more especially with a multi-disciplinary focus (content, user research, design systems, and of course interaction design).
  • Demonstrated ability to influence large and complex organizations through strong presentation and analytical skills.
  • Masters Degree in Human Factors, Human Computer Interaction, or Interaction Design preferred or a Bachelors Degree with 15+ years of total industry experience.
  • A background in Enterprise Application design and leadership with highly complex usage scenarios and functionality.
  • Demonstrated experience leading geographically distributed teams across multiple timezones.
