As a Senior Design Manager, you will help build a robust ecosystem that extends our product’s capabilities and fosters a thriving community of developers.
Responsibilities
- Lead the UX Vision: Define and drive the user experience strategy for the developer platform, ensuring a seamless, intuitive, and delightful experience for developers of all levels.
- Champion UI Craft Excellence: Set a high bar for UI design and interaction patterns, ensuring a visually appealing and engaging platform that inspires developers.
- Manage the UX Team: Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of UX designers and researchers dedicated to crafting exceptional developer experiences.
- Drive User-Centered Design: Embed user research and testing throughout the design process, ensuring the platform evolves with the needs of developers.
- Orchestrate End-to-End Developer Journeys: Map and optimize the complete developer experience, from onboarding to integration deployment, ensuring a smooth and successful path.
- Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Partner closely with product managers, engineers, and developer advocates to define requirements, prioritize features, and guarantee flawless execution.
- Pioneer Future-Looking Concepts: Explore and experiment with emerging technologies and design trends to envision the next generation of developer experiences.
- Advocate for Developers: Be the voice of the developer within the organization, championing their needs and ensuring they are met.
- Drive design consistency and scalability: You’ll establish design systems and guidelines that ensure consistency and scalability across the developer platform experience.
- Measure and Iterate: Define key metrics for developer experience success and leverage data to drive continuous improvement.
Experience
- Proven UX Leadership: Proven experience leading UX teams, within a developer platform or enterprise software environment.
- A keen eye for detail and design aesthetics: A Senior UX Manager should possess a discerning eye for visual design, typography, layout, and overall aesthetics, ensuring that the developer platform is not only functional but also visually appealing and engaging.
- Proficiency in design tools and prototyping: While they may not be actively designing, they should be familiar with industry-standard design and prototyping tools to effectively review and provide feedback on the team’s work.
- Deep UX Expertise: A strong foundation in user-centered design principles and methodologies, with a passion for exceptional UI craft.
- A passion for Developers: A genuine interest in understanding and advocating for the needs of developers. Like Balmer, maybe.
